This role offers practical skills in a high-demand field while allowing students to continue their education. Positions feature flexible hours (20–30 per week as needed) and involve supporting the patient portal, clinic operations, and various other IT functions throughout the health system, including project management and go-live support. Pay starts at $19.74 per hour without benefits, and no experience is required. This position provides extensive exposure to all areas of a healthcare system, both clinical and non-clinical, allowing individuals to gain experience working with the public and develop professional skills valuable for any future career. Clinical Application Technicians are entry-level members of the Information Technology (IT) team, supporting various IT functions to encourage skill development and exposure to diverse healthcare settings and technologies. They work independently and as part of larger teams in clinics, assist patients with the patient portal, collaborate with technology teams for IT equipment installation and maintenance, provide training and end-user support to clinicians, and aid in major IT initiatives like project go-lives and system upgrades. Training on standard IT and health system policies and procedures is provided, developing marketable skills for full-time IT and healthcare employment. Senior IT team members offer on-the-job training and coaching for entry-level candidates. This is a PRN (“as needed”) position with a flexible schedule of approximately 20–30 hours per week, with hours fluctuating based on organizational needs and coordinated in advance with the Health IT Technician Coordinator. The position primarily provides in-person support on-site at the Fishersville campus and clinics in the Staunton, Augusta, Waynesboro area, with a potential for remote work after six months with manager approval.
