Position Summary: The Health Information Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of electronic health records that directly support patient care and revenue cycle operations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA, regulatory standards, and organizational policies. As a successful candidate, you will: Review medical records for completeness and accuracy in compliance with regulatory standards Assign and track record deficiencies to clinicians for timely completion Support providers with documentation completion and respond to inquiries Manage release of information (ROI) requests from patients, attorneys, and third parties Monitor compliance with medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements Perform document scanning, indexing, and quality assurance for electronic records Conduct audits and ensure data integrity across patient records and systems Support coding and billing processes through charge capture and account review Maintain referring provider data and support continuity of care systems Collaborate on system upgrades, testing, and special projects

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of medical records experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical record processing, release of information, and charge capture
  • Understanding of Title 22, CMS, Joint Commission, and HIPAA regulations
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive information with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
