About The Position

This position is responsible for performing functions that support health information management and document management in hybrid environments (electronic and hard copy). Functions include storage, retrieval and delivery of health records; prepping, scanning and quality control; Release of Information and general clerical support to the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in medical records and/or in a medical setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service.
  • Excellent phone etiquette.
  • Detailed oriented required.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieves records, documents, and process according to procedure and within established time frame.
  • Monitors assigned queues within the electronic medical record. Appropriately, assign and monitor documents within the chart ensuring consistent labeling of documents and on-going training of staff.
  • Answer the telephone in a friendly manner, appropriately transfer calls and handle messages, timely disposition all voicemail messages, serve our patients/customers needs in an efficient professional, courteous manner.
  • Coordinates record reviews and assist requesters with access to and release of information. Responds to requesters for medical information by performing duties in accordance with established clinic and departmental policy, state and federal law.
  • Process incoming and outgoing departmental mail on a daily basis to included faxes and any other electronic form of communications.
  • Merge duplicate medical records according to the established procedure.
  • Maintain confidentiality of and security of all patients.
  • Participates in QI activities for the Center.
