About The Position

To scan and assign incoming medical record documents that are received via multiple avenues; Accurately route documents to the appropriate provider and/or care team to facilitate patient care; Assist with staff needs associated with patient medical records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to learn an Electronic Health Record software
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as Microsoft Word and Excel and use of a printer/copier/fax
  • Ability to think critically, identify solutions and self-monitor accuracy of work performed
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to perform work with minimal supervision and work within a strict timeframe

  • Required to spend long hours on the computer entering various forms of data which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Required to spend long hours in intense concentration
  • Required to spend hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain
  • Required to read, write and speak English
  • Requires sufficient hearing level, or reasonable accommodations, to be able to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone
  • Occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Full time job that averages 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday as scheduled
  • Hours are generally between 8am-5pm as scheduled and may be altered by supervisor(s) as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Health Information Management Services experience preferred
  • Medical terminology background preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the accurate and timely collection of clinical documentation that is generated on paper during patient care and treatment
  • Ensures paper clinical documentation is scanned properly and merged into the patient’s chart
  • Ensures all paper and electronic documents are filed in the correct folder and/or attached to the correct order or referral
  • Accurately assigns all documents to the provider, care team, and other staff as indicated
  • Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information
  • Provides reports to supervisor as requested
  • Provides excellent internal customer service
  • Maintains current knowledge to effectively perform duties and responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned
