Job Summary Reviews and validates that scanned documents reside with the correct patient and are indexed to the correct document type and level (encounter, patient, or order) within the document management system. Assesses and reports document imaging quality metrics by employee and by location. Assures inaccurately scanned information is promptly corrected to assure the overall integrity of the patient medical record. Maintains an expert knowledge of the imaging system function and all supportive software. Performs quality audits of scanned documents and reports accuracy of work performed to include correct indexing of documents to the patient, document type, and scanning level. Identifies and reports trends in processing errors in order to reduce error rate, identifies opportunities to improve upon process and/or reduce scanning volume. Resolves incorrectly scanned documents or documents scanned to the incorrect patient/location by re-scanning, re-indexing, and/or redacting. Identifies system issues impacting the timeliness or quality of scanning and submits support tickets Maintains statistical information on corrections, audits, and system problems to be sent to Management for review. Participates in testing of system functionality, new releases, and makes recommendations for system enhancements. Assists members of the document imaging staff Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned
  • Experience - Two (2) years of experience in health information management or related Epic credential
  • In lieu of education and experience noted above, an Associate Degree in Health information Management may be considered.
  • Maintains an expert level of knowledge on document management system functionality and work processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) through AHIMA preferred, if applicable
  • Document scanning skills preferred
  • Electronic medical record skills preferred
