About The Position

The HIM Manager is responsible for the overall management of Health Information Management operations, including medical records integrity, compliance, privacy, and the support of clinical and financial operations. This role plays a crucial part in planning and coordinating departmental activities to ensure efficiency in service delivery and data management within a Critical Access Hospital environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare information management or operations leadership.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in team management and the ability to lead change and foster innovation.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and strategically across all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making abilities and the capacity to interpret complex healthcare regulations.
  • Organization: Ability to manage time, resources, and multiple competing projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Provide direction to the HIM team, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Oversee record integrity, release of information (ROI), and document management processes.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of departmental strategies and execute plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize expenditures.
  • Compliance & Privacy: Ensure all operations align with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
  • Serve as a leader in maintaining medical record confidentiality and security.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning and execution of departmental projects and continuous improvement activities, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Staff Management: Manage staffing levels, including recruiting, training, and coaching team members.
  • Handle scheduling, payroll functions, and performance management.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with clinical leadership, revenue cycle teams, and IT to support data integrity and quality initiatives.
