Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant experience Health Information Management or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • CRT-Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AHIMA American Health Information Management Association
  • CRT-Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA American Health Information Management Association

Responsibilities

  • Trains and mentors health information management (HIM) staff.
  • Coordinates work flow.
  • Performs quality monitoring and participates in activities to improve outcomes for the integrity of the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Measures employees' performance to ensure required productivity levels and quality standards are being met.
  • Provides input regarding performance and recommends performance enhancement or corrective action as necessary.
  • Ensures that required documentation for activities within area of responsibility is performed accurately, communicated concisely and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates the work flow of the assigned team, anticipating absences, vacations, and job openings.
  • Performs the essential functions of the department as necessary.
  • Participates in process improvement activities.
  • Assists in planning and standardization of work flow / system / service enhancements.
  • Communicates and collaborates with appropriate departments across the Corewell Health system and to external 3rd party vendors, insurance companies, and regulatory bodies, etc.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on essential HIM functions and work flows.
  • Answers inquiries from departments regarding HIM system and resolves or escalates as appropriate.
