About The Position

The Health Information and IT Supervisor oversees the Health Information Management (HIM and Information Technology (IT) functions of Tri-Cities chaplaincy to ensure the accurate, secure and complaint management of clinical documentation and information systems. This position provides leadership for electronic health records (RHD), data security, HIPAA compliance, and technology operations that support patient care, regulatory compliance, and organizational efficiency. This role serves as a member of the Leadership Team and is designated as the agency’s HIPAA Security Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, health information management, healthcare administration, or a related field; or willingness to obtain a bachelor's degree in one of the listed areas within four (4) years of hire.
  • Experience is sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, HIPAA, CMS, and healthcare documentation requirements.
  • Demonstration proficiency with computers and smart devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones and common office software (e.g. email, calendars, document management, and web-based applications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to everyday technology use.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new software systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and information technology platforms.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, as driving is an essential function of this role. Must meet insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to independently drive within Tri-Cities Chaplaincy’s service areas.
  • This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, which includes cannabis testing in Washington State.
  • Ability to report to the assigned work location(s) as scheduled and maintain consistent, reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience in hospice, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Prior experience in information security, IT coordination, or health information management.
  • Experience working with managed service providers or external vendors.
