About The Position

Job Purpose: The primary purpose of the Cupid Health Informaticist (HI) / Principal Trainer (PT) is to serve as an expert for the Epic application and assist the work activities of the training team as assigned. Using evidence-based practice, the Cupid PT contributes to patient safety by building, testing, and maintaining the training environment, as well as developing and maintaining training materials. The Cupid PT will serve as a point of contact for their respective applications and will work closely with members of the Health Informatics Training (HIT) team and Credentialed Trainers (CT) to achieve the goal of providing training and building & maintaining training environments. The Cupid PT maintains the ongoing service relationships between the HIT department and its direct application customers and is a liaison to other departments and entities. They will assist in coordinating all issues that arise during the application implementation for their respective team and must be very knowledgeable of the organization's policies, procedures, and business operations.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience implementing or supporting electronic health record applications is preferred.
  • Beginner Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive attitude.
  • Highly self-motivated, directed and change oriented.
  • Very strong customer orientation.
  • Ability to analyze highly complex systems and workflows.

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of change management principles and team work.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare informatics, nursing, or other related field preferred. Equivalent work experience in healthcare can replace the educational requirement.
  • Certification in an Epic Application Module preferred; otherwise primary Epic Application module (Cupid) certification obtained within first six months.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse preferred - if licensed, maintains current licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with team members and informs leadership of all events pertaining to the operations of assigned applications and assigned projects.
  • Under the direction of the HIT Leadership is able to communicate user needs and problems and determines feasibility of solutions, using clinical knowledge and hospital experience to assist in supporting clinical applications.
  • Analyze business/clinical needs and requirements for Epic application supported to gain approval from Senior Health Informaticists or Team Lead.
  • Gather information and evaluate the operational workflow applied to the system.
  • Create system specifications from user requirements and maintains current detailed system documentation for assigned applications.
  • Team partnership: Coordinate workflow documentation and integration with other applications collaborating with key stakeholders and operational subject matter experts.
  • Active participant in Epic application specific clinician workgroup.
  • Continually looks for opportunities for improvement in day-to-day workflow. Brings ideas forward for approvals for new or optimized standard operating practices adhering to the best practices of MHS Health Informatics as assigned.
  • Manage many tasks at one time, balancing priorities, deadlines and time. Personally complete all aspects of a project in a reliable, accurate and timely manner. Reports and helps to establish priorities of projects for the application team in conjunction with the HIT Leadership.
  • Assesses, plans, designs, implements and evaluates clinical workflow and business processes to define technology needs. Makes recommendations to Department Leadership.
  • Assist with determining how a new system, upgrade, or new component can best meet the needs of the users.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of system infrastructure changes (change control, system upgrades, copy/restore events, application of service packs, downtimes and training).
  • Performs or ensures system maintenance and testing is complete for requested changes, and for all updates/new releases for all assigned applications.
  • May be asked to present demonstrations of build and new functionalities within applications to peers, end users and leaders.
  • Communicate the deployment for new builds, changes, upgrade features and/or training for our clinicians.
  • Monitor and work assigned incidents to resolution. Initiates and coordinates troubleshooting with team members and peers for known issues and provide timely, effective, and professional customer support.
  • Provide application troubleshooting support in Cherwell. Resolve the issue or forward it to the correct group for remediation.
  • Accountable for your performance. Continually assesses education needs of self in relation to technology solutions. Plans and contributes to formal and informal education for self.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
