About The Position

The job goal is to structure the learning environment to study the integrated Health program outlined by the LRSD Curriculum Guides and Arkansas Department of Workforce Education curriculum frameworks. This is a Ten (11.5) month contract (235 days), plus benefit package. Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. The position is FLSA EXEMPT and follows the TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree (minimum).
  • Must have Arkansas Teacher Certification in Health 7-12.
  • Certification or AAA certification to coach volleyball.
  • Evidence of successful experience in working with health curriculum and implementation.
  • Evidence of ability to work well with others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty successfully.
  • Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period.
  • Ability to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches classes related to the health sciences curriculum.
  • Arranges guest speakers.
  • Coordinates field trips with curriculum.
  • Evaluates the program on an on-going basis.
  • Meets and instructs assigned class in the location and at the times designated.
  • Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students.
  • Develops and teaches games for students to teach them good skills as well as good social behaviors.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, material and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administration regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or procedures governing student life and conduct.
  • Develops reasonable rules and procedures in order to maintain a classroom climate which is equitable, fair and conductive to learning.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Models a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Makes commitment to time necessary for participating in District/school sponsored staff development.
  • Assumes responsibility for encouraging and involving parents and community in decision making relative to the development and implementation of programs at the building level.
  • Completes daily work schedules as assigned.
