Requirements

Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum two years of experience in community education
Valid California driver’s license, current vehicle insurance and reliable transportation
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Comfortable working with marginalized populations (LGBTQ+, people who use drugs, unhoused population, etc.)
Comfortable with the harm reduction approach
Bilingual English and Spanish
Ability to present information accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups
Good verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers and other staff
Ability to plan and facilitate internal and community meetings
Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilities

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in related field or associates degree with minimum two years' of experience in community education

Responsibilities

Provide direct information, education, and referrals to individuals and groups in target population as required by program and/or as directed by Supervisor.
Work with other program staff, VCC staff and community partners.
Conduct outreach and provide HIV health education, counseling and testing services to individuals at risk for HIV infection or transmission
Work with individuals to assess individual risk and needs, enrolling those appropriate into an individualized risk reduction program
Internal and external program reporting, such as progress and final reports
Oversee completion of program objectives and recommend changes in scope as needed
Serve as liaison and assist with collaborative support activities with community agencies, local government representatives and other VCC project staff
Attend meetings, as needed
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature review, in-service meetings and workshops
