About The Position

The Division of Health Services Research within the Department of Urology at the University of Pittsburgh is looking for a PhD-level health economist with 0-3 years of experience to fill a tenure-stream faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities will include collaborating as a co-investigator on grant funding (both intra- and extramural), submitting grants as a principal investigator (both intra- and extramural), mentoring faculty and trainees (e.g., fellows, residents, medical students, as well as predoctoral and postdoctoral students) interested in health economics, publishing papers, presenting at national and international meetings, serving on relevant committees, and reviewing for journals. A longer term goal will include becoming an independently funded researcher. The successful applicant will be a health economist who can sustain an extramurally funded research program, collaborate across departments and schools, and help train the next generation of health services researchers. Preferred that candidates have prior experience in this capacity. These skills include (but are not limited to): 1. Experience designing the approach for grants pertaining to health economics 2. Experience writing grants and manuscripts 3. Experience teaching trainees (e.g., fellow, residents, medical students, Master's graduate students, PhD students) econometric research methods 4. Managing quantitative data, including cleaning and analyzing 5. Participating in team science, working in a multidisciplinary environment 6. Suggesting improvements to research methods and workflows 7. Regularly communicating with members of the study team, collaborators, and research participants

Requirements

Experience designing the approach for grants pertaining to health economics

PhD in Health Economics or related field
