Under the direction of the Transcription Supervisor, transcribes medical information dictated by physicians and other healthcare practitioners in order to facilitate patient care and delivery of healthcare services. Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of relevant experience
• One to two years medical transcription experience or educational equivalent in medical transcription program

• CRT-Medical Transcript (CMT)

Responsibilities

• Transcribes dictation and formats reports according to established guidelines.
• Verifies patient information for accuracy and completeness.
• Recognizes and evaluates inconsistencies and discrepancies and appropriately revises or clarifies without altering the meaning of the dictation or changing the dictator’s style.
• Maintains appropriate production and quality standards as defined by department policy and procedure.
• Prints and distributes work per procedure according to locations where typed.
• Operates and maintains transcription computer equipment, software, dictation equipment, photocopies, fax machine and Hospital Information System in an effective, skillful, efficient and safe manner.
• Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
• Communicates unusual circumstances with possible risk factors to the manager.
