About The Position

This position is responsible for providing operational and procedural support to the Newborn Screening Hearing program in the Bureau of Early Steps and Newborn Screening, Division of Children's Medical Services for quality assurance and programmatic system operations. The incumbent in this position must be able to work independently, must have the ability to organize and prioritize workload, be capable of ensuring continuity of work in the absence of supervision, and demonstrate sound judgement and initiative in the performance of these duties. Coordinate and complete quality assurance monitoring and daily validation activities within the Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) data system. Daily activities include, but are not limited to, eReports accounts requests, duplicate records, data corrections, eFax inbox inquiries, normal hearing result case closures, and normal hearing diagnostic case closures. Coordinate the monthly hearing screening and congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) screening validation processes. In collaboration with other Quality Assurance and Training Unit staff, complete data cleaning procedures. Generate reports for individual hospitals and birth centers. Format reports to support standardization prior to dissemination. Conduct trend analyses and communicate trends to the Hearing Screening Resource Coordinator for use with targeted technical support. Generate hospital and audiology congratulation certificates for high performing practices. Coordinate and complete quarterly hearing screening and cCMV grading. Validate the hearing screening quarterly data. Compile and validate cCMV data from the program data system. Format the hearing screening and cCMV grading reports for dissemination. Coordinate with the Newborn Screening Strategic Marketing Specialist to post quarterly reports to the program website. Responsible for coordination of the Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Advisory Committee (EHDI) meetings and provide oversight of all committee-related activities such as scheduling, public notices, appointments, travel, meeting minutes, reporting, related workgroups, and all required materials. Coordinate and complete grant deliverables and special projects aimed at enhancing timely data reporting, quality, and data informed decision-making. Coordinate with Newborn Screening Process Improvement Specialist and contracted data system vendor for data system and eReports maintenance and enhancements related to hearing screening, hearing diagnostics, early intervention, and cCMV screening. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of epidemiological methods.
  • Statistical skills to be able to analyze, evaluate, and interpret data.
  • Ability to prepare various reports and statistical data.
  • Ability to organize data in logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Experience preparing and presenting health-related information to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration, or a related degree.
  • 1 year experience coordinating a committee or advisory council.
  • Experience working in a hospital, physician’s office, medical facility, and/or public health office analyzing health information and preparing statistical reports.
