About The Position

We are seeking a qualified Health Consultant to provide comprehensive health services and compliance support for an early childhood program serving children and families. This is a contract (1099) position designed for an experienced healthcare professional with expertise in child health, Head Start standards, and licensing requirements. The Consultant will provide ongoing health guidance, compliance support, and staff training, including: Development and management of Individual Health Care Plans for children (new, modified, and annual updates) Completion and support of Office of Head Start 90-day determinations Tracking and follow-up for health concerns, including: Hearing and vision screenings (failed or under care) Low hemoglobin Elevated lead levels Missing immunizations Perform child blood pressure checks as needed Unlimited phone and email consultation with program leadership Education and training for staff, including: Medication administration Health Care Policy Immunization policies and procedures Occupational Exposure Control Plans & Universal Precautions Communicable Diseases Respiratory Illness and Mitigation Diapering and Toileting Policy Review and update health-related policies and procedures as needed Make recommendations for changes to Health Care Policies and review revisions Conduct annual site visits and assist with Health & Safety compliance Provide guidance on additional identified health and safety needs Support during licensing reviews and inspections as needed

Requirements

  • Licensed healthcare professional (RN, NP, MD, or equivalent)
  • Experience with early childhood programs and/or Head Start preferred
  • Strong knowledge of child health regulations, licensing standards, and best practices
  • Experience developing policies, training staff, and supporting compliance
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently as a contractor
