About The Position

Under the supervision of the Health Center Manager, the Health Center Receptionist (HCR) is responsible for providing front office support and assisting in day-to-day clinic operations while following established and well-known procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to different situations.
  • Analytical with an acute attention to detail.
  • Strong decision-making skills and able to take initiative.
  • Effective stress management skills.
  • Must be able to accommodate a 4/10 schedule, Monday – Thursday.
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from primary health center location.

Nice To Haves

  • Related college experience/degree preferable.
  • At least one (1) year of office or medical experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with computers including Windows based programs.
  • Ability to frequently perform basic math.
  • Understanding of the importance of discretion; Familiarity with HIPAA.
  • Experience writing routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients, answer phones, refer calls, and communicate with back-office staff.
  • Schedule appointments for reproductive health including but not limited to contraceptive and abortion services.
  • Input and update client information in the electronic health record (EHR) data system and chart, as applicable.
  • Enter medical visit and fee collection information into EHR data system, ensuring information is correct.
  • Assess and verify patient insurance benefits, health plan authorization, or RH Access Fund.
  • Collect fees/donations, complete appropriate forms and obtain signatures, and reconcile billing charges daily per PPSO policy.
  • Understand pairing of ICD 9 & CPT for accurate coding of services.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of bank deposit and timely bank drops per health center protocol.
  • Maintain patient records, filing systems, data systems, patient logs and records transfers.
  • Participate in all forms of family planning to meet the needs of the patient(s) and comply with established protocols.
  • Assist the clinic manager with new employee training.
  • Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic and on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
  • Always provide high quality customer service and deliver services in a manner that provides objectivity and supports the entirety of services provided by PPSO.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Engage in and support efforts to create and maintain an affirming and culturally responsive work environment.
  • Take the initiative to develop own awareness and knowledge of the principles and scope of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Participate and engage in DEIB initiatives.
