About The Position

This position is a Supervisory Health Care Technician II (HCTII) and reports to the Third Shift Supervisor as a lead worker, the HCTII monitors care of individuals by Health Care Technician I's (HCTI) providing feedback to staff as needed. The HCTII provides direct care services to individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, some of whom have behavioral problems and/or medical conditions. These services are in the form of behavioral programming, habilitative training and activities, and in assisting with health care needs that are necessary. In addition to direct personal care, the position carries out program goals to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living. This position must be attentive to carrying out programs accurately and appropriately; capable of intervening with individuals who are agitated; capable of reporting orally and in writing; capable of assisting individuals if necessary; and capable of monitoring for safety concerns. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
  • NA I/II not required
  • Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with IDD/mental disabilities.
  • The applicant will be required to successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center “Basic Training Series”; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting.
