About The Position

This position is located at North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) in Raleigh. NCCIW is the state's primary prison for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders. The primary purpose of the HCT I is to monitor patients and perform technical procedures within the scope of a certified nurse's aide (CNA). All HCT I duties are delegated by, and under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include but are not limited to obtaining vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining level of observations of patients and other duties as assigned..

Requirements

  • Qualified applicants must be proficient in written and verbal English.
  • Ability to follow the treatment plans and/or clinical orders
  • Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques.
  • Ability to observe patients and make written and oral reports
  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days.
  • Nurse Aide I listing by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
