The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. The Health Care Supervisor provides direct oversight of the home’s daily operations, ensuring high-quality care and habilitative services for all residents. They assign tasks, offer guidance, and support Developmental Technicians I and II to maintain consistent and effective service delivery. The Health Care Supervisor is responsible for performance management, staff training, and creating work schedules that ensure the unit is staffed 24/7. They also oversee safety, sanitation, and compliance with all applicable standards, guidelines, and policies. In addition, the supervisor ensures that services and support for staff are available on a 24-hour basis. The role requires close communication with DSCII, NSI, NSIII, NDII, and supervisors across other departments as needed. The supervisor may also serve on committees and acts as a liaison to resolve issues quickly, ensuring continuity of care.
