About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. The Health Care Supervisor provides direct oversight of the home’s daily operations, ensuring high-quality care and habilitative services for all residents. They assign tasks, offer guidance, and support Developmental Technicians I and II to maintain consistent and effective service delivery. The Health Care Supervisor is responsible for performance management, staff training, and creating work schedules that ensure the unit is staffed 24/7. They also oversee safety, sanitation, and compliance with all applicable standards, guidelines, and policies. In addition, the supervisor ensures that services and support for staff are available on a 24-hour basis. The role requires close communication with DSCII, NSI, NSIII, NDII, and supervisors across other departments as needed. The supervisor may also serve on committees and acts as a liaison to resolve issues quickly, ensuring continuity of care. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development Diploma and three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily).
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature.
  • This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of State, Caswell, and Divisional policies and procedures, and knowledge of individuals with developmental disabilities, including experience providing direct care in a residential setting and understanding the roles and responsibilities of health care staff.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and report on the strengths and needs of both individuals and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to manage time of self and others productively.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
