About The Position

The Health and Safety Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure a healthy, safe, and compliant work environment for all employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school.
  • 3–5 years in safety roles.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excel: For tracking safety metrics, incident logs, audit results, and training records.
  • Word: Writing safety policies, incident reports, and training materials.
  • PowerPoint: Creating safety presentations and training modules.
  • Outlook: Managing communications, scheduling inspections and meetings.

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift), especially during plant inspections.
  • Frequent climbing of stairs, ladders, and accessing elevated platforms or confined spaces.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 25–50 lbs
  • Work in cold, hot, humid, or noisy environments typical of food processing plants.
  • Exposure to wet floors, strong cleaning chemicals, and food-grade sanitizers.
  • May require wearing full PPE including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and respirators.
  • Use of hands and fingers for writing reports, operating safety equipment, and handling tools or testing devices.
  • Good vision and hearing required to identify hazards, read labels/signs, and communicate effectively in noisy environments.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends, during seasonal production peaks.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies or incidents outside of regular hours

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP) and other safety programs in alignment with federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
  • Inspect workplaces to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure employees have safe equipment and PPE.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and incidents, document root causes and corrective measures.
  • Deliver safety training (e.g., PPE, hazard communication, emergency procedures).
  • Lead safety meetings, drills, and awareness programs.
  • Foster a safety-first culture encouraging reporting of unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain logs (OSHA 300, 300A), training records, incident documentation.
  • Submit required reports to Cal/OSHA for serious injuries or fatalities.
  • Managing employee safety training records and certifications.
  • Collaborate with operations, HR, and management on safety solutions and workers’ compensation.
  • Interface with auditors and external agencies during inspections.
