About The Position

Performs field technical work across the Mediacom service footprint. Assists in installing equipment as required by specific projects such as DC plants, Cisco network transport switches or routers, and learning new technology as it is being developed. Works closely with management to improve processes and plan new projects. Provides back-end support of the installation and configuration of enterprise and optical transport equipment. Performs basic configuration, installation, and testing of networks for all Mediacom departments. Provides onsite support for departments with technical issues as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a cable field technical position.
  • Valid driver's license; satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to operate all tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Knowledge of client/service architectures, bridges, local area networks, wide area networks, and IP networks is highly desired.
  • Ability to operate all tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of personnel in Broadband Specialist I - IV descriptions (with respect to both CATV and HSD services).
  • Installation and monitoring of equipment for generators, UPSs, air-conditioning, DC plants.
  • Heavy planning, involved in wiring design for DC panels.
  • Properly use, store, and maintain all test equipment used in system.
  • Prepare estimates for projects, providing bill of materials.
  • Climb ladders with proper equipment (safety belt, safety strap and climbers), ladders or other structures as needed. Lift and carry loads up to 75lbs (including up to 28 ft ladder).
  • Perform on-site maintenance and support work, both during and after normal business hours.
  • Communicate with the various internal engineering groups and NOCs to coordinate Enterprise activities, with a goal of minimizing downtime and providing a quality experience for the customer.
  • Ground and air travel across the Mediacom footprint as needed in support of new orders, and to work with engineers on assigned installation and maintenance tasks. Approximately 75% travel time required. Overnights as needed.
