About The Position

Newman University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Women’s Volleyball Coach to lead our NCAA Division II women’s volleyball program. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the program while fostering the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will embody Newman’s Catholic mission and values, serving as a role model both on and off the court.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Successful volleyball coaching experience, preferably as a head coach at the collegiate level.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and human relations skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and ability to pass annual recruiting certification.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II women’s volleyball program.
  • Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes in compliance with NCAA and institutional guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Admissions to support student-athlete enrollment and academic success.
  • Teach 1 credit hour course(s) per semester within the Athletics Department.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on physical health, team concepts, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA Division II, MIAA Conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility and academic progress toward graduation.
  • Coordinate conditioning and weight training with Athletic Performance coaches.
  • Schedule practices, games, and team travel arrangements.
  • Engage in fundraising, community outreach, and promotional activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting ethical conduct and sportsmanship.
  • Manage program budget and organize camps, clinics, or leagues as appropriate.
  • Minimum 40-hour work week in office unless approved by administration or dictated by holidays or designated days off.
