About The Position

The Head Coach for The Plateau Club Penguins is responsible for creating a supportive team environment for to all members of the Penguins Team. Must have a passion for swimming, teaching and being a positive role model for swimmers. The Head Coach is responsible for but not limited to lifeguarding during practices, getting in the water to provide assistance during drills, teaching swim lessons, writing swim team workouts, and attending all swim meets.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide and write quality team workouts. Coach IN and OUT of the water as needed to assist swimmers in improving their skills. Complete swim meet line-ups and entries for swim meets. Attend ALL swim meets and swim team social events. Communicate with the members of the Penguins Team through the weekly newsletter any updates and timely respond to any email communications from parents. Teach and schedule private and semi-private swim lessons as requested by members and/or assigned by the Recreation Center Manager Act as a lifeguard during practices. Ensure safety and constant supervision of all swim team participations for the duration of swim practices and swim meets. In cooperation with the Aquatics Team and Parent Volunteers: complete set-up of swim meets (including but not limited to swim meet information, physical set up, computer entries, heat sheets, swim meet operation and posting results). Maintain appropriate records of completion of Midlakes Coaching Certifications for all members of the Coaching Team. Be the point person with communications through the Midlakes Swim League Ensure proper documentation is on hand for ALL swim team members prior to allowing participation in practices or swim meets. Work with the Parent Representatives to ensure all volunteer positions are filled and supplied with necessary equipment. Plan and attend ALL team social events Order team merchandise and Coach uniforms Provide quality customer service in a courteous and timely manner. Provide accurate information about programs and activities to members. Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current Hy-Tek TM and MM training
  • Completion of Midlakes Team Coaches training
  • SafeSport Training
  • American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches Certification
  • Ability to work from May 12th through July 30, 2026
  • Current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certification OR willingness to obtain (training available for the right candidate)

  • FOR SEASONAL TEAM MEMBERS: Seasonal team members are hired for the summer season, and work fluctuating amounts of hours per week, including occasional overtime. Hours are not guaranteed, and hours worked during the summer (busy season) are not an indication of hours available year-round. Seasonal employment is temporary work; therefore, terminated at the end of the busy season. Team Members in good standing are encouraged to return the following year or apply for a year-round position if available.
