About The Position

The Head Swim and Dive Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing a comprehensive swim and dive program that emphasizes skill development, competitive excellence, safety, sportsmanship, and personal growth. This role provides leadership for all aspects of the program, including coaching, athlete development, meet preparation, staff supervision, and compliance with governing bodies and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience coaching swim and/or dive programs.
  • Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics, dive techniques, training methods, and meet operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Current or ability to obtain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, etc.).
  • Background check and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior head coaching or program leadership experience.
  • Certification from recognized coaching organizations (e.g., ASCA, USA Swimming, USA Diving).
  • Background working with youth, high school, collegiate, or club-level athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead all swim and dive practices, training sessions, and competitions.
  • Develop seasonal training plans that promote athlete development, performance improvement, and injury prevention.
  • Coach athletes of varying skill levels, fostering both individual and team success.
  • Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback and goal-setting support.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture aligned with organizational values.
  • Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and leadership among athletes.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes and parents regarding expectations, progress, and schedules.
  • Organize and attend swim and dive meets, including lineup decisions and meet-day coaching.
  • Coordinate travel logistics, meet entries, and event scheduling as required.
  • Ensure athletes are properly prepared and eligible for competition.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, athlete eligibility, certifications, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable league, association, and safety regulations.
  • Enforce all safety protocols, including emergency action plans and water safety standards.
  • Ensure certifications (CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, etc.) are current as required.
  • Promote a safe training and competition environment at all times.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
