About The Position

The Head Start Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children in a structured educational environment. This position is responsible for implementing a comprehensive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of young learners and promotes school readiness. The Head Start Teacher will collaborate with families and community resources to support children's growth and development, ensuring that each child receives the individualized attention they need. Additionally, this role involves assessing children's progress and adapting teaching strategies to enhance learning outcomes. Ultimately, the Head Start Teacher is dedicated to creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration and discovery.

Requirements

  • Associate, including at least 6 college courses in early childhood education and/or child development.
  • Courses qualify as defined per Head Start and TDFPS
  • Two or more years of experience teaching, or assistant teaching 3 or 4-year-old children in a licensed child care center.
  • strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building relationships with children and their families.
  • Organizational skills are vital for planning lessons and managing classroom activities effectively.
  • critical thinking skills are necessary for assessing children's needs and adapting teaching methods accordingly.

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate, or advanced degree including at least 6 college courses in early childhood education and/or child development.
  • Two or more years’ experience teaching 3 or 4-year-old children in a licensed child care center, and supervisory skills and experience.
  • knowledge of early childhood education best practices

Responsibilities
