About The Position

The Head of Project Management is responsible for directing and overseeing the project management office (PMO) and ensuring that programs and projects aligns with the Bank’s business strategies and objectives. This position mentors business leaders to improve processes, procedures and standards and assists in the change management process. The Head of Project Management is to consult and advise project team members on initiatives based on industry best practices; continuously improve process and procedures to ensure project delivery is aligned to the growth objectives of the Bank; identify and manage mitigation to any potential risk or exposure that could be inherited by the technology aspect of strategic initiatives; ensure project delivery compliance from regulatory mandates; raise and escalate areas of risk and mobilize project team to properly address issues; lead teams of Business Unit professionals to successfully integrate the company and other organizations through exercise of acquisition; conduct due diligence, determine current/target states and plan for conversion and integration activity; and execute with internal staff as well as external vendors to manage to successful completion. Ensures compliance with established Company policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act (state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university; or 7 or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferably in strategy, consulting or project management within the financial services industry. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry. Project Management Certification preferred.
  • Working experience using Microsoft Projects or similar tools required.
  • Working experience on report writing using Excel, Crystal Reports or similar tools required.
  • Requires supervisory experience and management skills, project management experience and team work orientation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for employee’s using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills..
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Intermediate math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan department or Company activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department or Company activities; effectively staff (selecting, training and developing employees); directing employees towards the desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems); controlling the function (developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action and rewarding employees as appropriate).
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.

Nice To Haves

  • MS or MBA preferred.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements project management methodologies based on industry best practices.
  • Provides supervision and support to all areas of the department where service or assistance is needed; support project pipeline by managing resource availability, capacity and skillsets.
  • Works within the corporate governance process as established and provides portfolio metrics, dashboard reporting, and financial summaries for governance reporting.
  • Communicates with all levels of the organization, including IT and business leadership to ensure successful execution of a project, appropriate project resource assignments and on-time status reporting.
  • Collaborates with IT and business leaders in strategizing, planning and executing business initiatives.
  • Oversees program and project health and works with business leaders in identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Coordinates the project prioritization process and assists with project proposals to provide executive management information for project approvals.
  • Manages projects including but not limited to, implementation/conversion of banking platform, new product development, backup office support services, data warehouse, Merger and Acquisition related activities and any special projects as designated.
  • Performs project management tasks as required.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry trends, technology capabilities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains proficient knowledge of the states, federal and regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Provides supervision and support to all areas of the department where service or assistance is needed; oversees activities of assigned department personnel.
  • Monitors staff in daily tasks, operations and quality control; ensures the organization of assigned areas of the department, coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.
  • Plays a positive role in the development and growth of assigned department staff through excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff.
  • Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily activities of the department including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.
