Requirements

  • 15+ years in strategic philanthropy or philanthropic management
  • Proven success building and managing philanthropic platforms and advising HNW and UHNW families on complex, multi-generational strategies
  • Deep technical knowledge of charitable vehicles (DAFs, private foundations, CRTs/CLTs), governance structures
  • Strong command of grant operations, diligence, risk management, and measurement/learning
  • Exceptional presence with HNW and UHNW clients, family offices, and private foundations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders
  • Superb communication—public speaking, program facilitation, and stakeholder management
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Build & Scale the Offering
  • Design a comprehensive philanthropic offering, tailored to the highest priority needs of our clients
  • Create standardized playbooks for multi-generational engagement, succession planning, and philanthropic education
  • Establish processes and procedures for due diligence, governance frameworks, investment policy alignment, grantmaking operations, and tax/compliance oversight
  • Survey and assess existing resources, needs, and opportunities across the firm
  • Establish strategic third-party partnership, as needed
  • Business Development
  • Work with wealth advisors and other members of our client service teams to pitch and close new philanthropic wealth management opportunities
  • Represent the firm in the marketplace; publish thought leadership; elevate our market presence
  • Advise HNW / UHNW Clients & Family Offices
  • Design and lead engagements with HNW and UHNW families to develop mission statements, giving strategies, legacy plans, and learning and development for rising generations, demonstrating discretion, empathy, and technical expertise
  • Leverage your expertise to develop new client relationships, working with families who can benefit from Corient’s broad services
  • Coordinate with legal/tax advisors to structure granting, giving strategies, and other complex vehicles
  • Design and manage custom philanthropic initiatives (e.g., scholarships) as needed
  • Serve as an internal resource and external expert for our advisory teams
  • Governance, Compliance & Technical Excellence
  • Advise on and implement governance best practices for private foundation committees; oversee adherence to private foundation rules
  • Lead grant reviews and risk management frameworks
  • Align philanthropic capital with investment teams to support PRIs/MRIs
  • Operational Leadership & Team Management
  • Set KPIs for service delivery, grant throughput, and client satisfaction
  • Partner across wealth advisers, investments, tax, wealth planning and wealth transfer, personal CFO, and corporate trust services to advise on and deliver integrated solutions
