Requirements

  • 7–12+ years of experience across recruiting, HR, or People leadership
  • Experience building People functions at high-growth startups (Series A+ preferred)
  • Proven track record of hiring exceptional talent across technical and operational roles
  • Strong business acumen — you understand how people strategy drives company outcomes
  • Trusted advisor to founders and executives
  • High ownership mindset with strong execution ability
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building systems from zero
  • Exceptional communication, judgment, and emotional intelligence
  • Passion for building elite teams and strong cultures
  • Deep experience with ATS and HR systems (Greenhouse, Ashby, Rippling, Deel, etc.)
  • Strong data orientation — you use metrics to guide decisions
  • Familiarity with compensation benchmarking tools
  • Experience designing performance management systems
  • Comfortable with modern startup tools (Notion, Slack, Google Workspace)
  • Knowledge of CA labor law and multi-state compliance

Responsibilities

  • Own People & Talent end-to-end: recruiting, HR, performance management, culture, and org design.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to founders, executives and hiring managers on hiring plans, org structure, and leadership development.
  • Build and scale Ever’s recruiting engine across engineering, product, operations, sales, and corporate roles.
  • Personally lead senior and critical hires while building a high-performing recruiting function.
  • Design hiring processes, interview frameworks, and bar-raising practices.
  • Own onboarding, performance reviews, leveling frameworks, and career progression.
  • Build compensation bands, equity frameworks, and promotion processes.
  • Create a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, ownership, and mission.
  • Ensure HR compliance across multi-state operations (CA and beyond).
  • Act as steward of Ever’s values, culture, and employer brand.
  • Build and manage external partners (PEOs, legal, payroll, benefits, recruiters).
  • Develop data-driven people metrics (retention, engagement, performance, hiring velocity).
  • Scale the People function as Ever grows nationally.
