About The Position

Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline (MBA preferred).
  • Have a minimum of seven years of progressive metals‑industry experience, including work in global teams and 3–5 years in back‑office operations.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of international physical and futures/forward metals markets and the ability to navigate volatile conditions effectively.
  • Exhibit decisiveness, clear communication of decisions, and the capability to identify, structure, negotiate, and document profitable transactions.
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and influencing abilities, and comfort engaging across cultural boundaries.
  • Hold familiarity with all facets of battery‑materials metals management and the ability to quickly understand chemical and metallurgical characteristics relevant to metal requirements.
  • Have proven success operating in a global, cross‑functional, matrixed organization while promoting diverse perspectives and supporting high‑performing teams.
  • Show commitment to BASF’s sustainability goals, proficiency in core values and winning behaviors, full business proficiency in English (German/Spanish advantageous), and willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing the global end‑to‑end metals management strategy for BM, translating strategic objectives into actionable priorities and plans.
  • Liaising across the organization to shape short‑ and long‑term metals management strategies, objectives, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Managing global CCA book risk and exposure, ensuring positions remain within approved limits and recommending mitigation or hedging actions as needed.
  • Providing timely feedback on unusual transactions and market developments while proposing actionable strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Collaborating with Global Heads of related areas to ensure effective and aligned price‑risk management across the business.
  • Initiating and preparing credit proposals with complete financial information, ensuring alignment with divisional and corporate risk‑reward criteria.
  • Targeting and prioritizing key counterparties, maintaining regular engagement and coordinating closely with Commercial, Credit, Legal, Operations, and Refining teams.
  • Leading the global team by setting clear expectations, fostering a high‑performance environment, supporting development needs, and ensuring effective workforce planning.
