About The Position

FlexStaff is seeking a Head of Maintenance Building Engineer for their client's advanced Bronx facility. This hands-on leader will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and peak performance of all complex facility systems, including refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, and boiler systems. The role involves driving preventive maintenance, utilizing CMMS for data-driven decisions, ensuring compliance, and building/mentoring a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance management, including oversight of complex systems.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a maintenance or facilities environment.
  • Strong bilingual communication skills (English & Spanish preferred).
  • Proven ability to balance technical expertise with strategic leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Facility & Systems Oversight: Lead total plant maintenance, focusing on preventive and predictive maintenance for maximum uptime.
  • Oversee and provide expert guidance on a wide range of complex facility systems, including Industrial HVAC, CO2/507 refrigeration, pneumatics, high-pressure boilers, high-tension electrical, plumbing, fire systems, and industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory.
  • Process & Compliance Management: Champion the use of CMMS for streamlined scheduling, tracking, and data-driven decisions.
  • Monitor trends, analyze reports, and implement improvements to extend asset lifecycle and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure safety and compliance by updating SOPs, enforcing strict protocols, and adhering to OSHA standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives balancing cost-efficiency, sustainability, and performance.
  • People & Cross-Functional Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing maintenance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and pride.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, safety, and quality assurance.
  • Provide professional growth opportunities through training and development.
