About The Position

The Head of Legal Operations is responsible for building and running the operational backbone of the Legal department. This role supports the people, services, and operational infrastructure that enable Legal to deliver high-quality, efficient, and scalable support to the business. Working in close partnership with the CLO and legal leaders, the Head of Legal Operations ensures the Legal organization operates with clarity, discipline, and consistency as the company grows. The Legal Operations team works to eliminate friction through automation, tech, and aligned processes. This team supports with Strategic Planning, Knowledge Management & Engagement, Technology Strategy & Process Optimization, Outside Counsel and Vendor Management, Budget & Financial Management, and Leaning & Development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive Legal Operations experience, including senior leadership roles driving operational excellence across people, processes, and technology.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Proven track record of scaling Legal Operations functions within complex, high-growth, and evolving business environments.
  • Excellent financial management expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and outside counsel spend optimization.
  • Proficiency with Legal systems and technology, such as CLM, eBilling, analytics, and workflow automation tools.
  • Demonstrated success in vendor management, ensuring performance, efficiency, and value from external partners.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the ability to build trust, influence decisions, and drive alignment across functions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and maturing the Legal Operations function, driving excellence across people, processes, systems, and performance metrics.
  • Supporting and enhancing Legal’s operating model, priorities, and strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy and business objectives.
  • Overseeing Legal technology and AI initiatives—including contract lifecycle management (CLM), eBilling, analytics, and workflow automation—improving efficiency, insight, and scalability.
  • Managing Legal budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and outside counsel engagement, optimizing spend and performance across the legal ecosystem.
  • Developing and maintaining clear metrics and dashboards for monitoring Legal’s performance, cost, and risk, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Driving operational rigor and change management, fostering adoption of new tools, processes, and best practices across the Legal organization.
  • Serving as a strategic partner to Legal leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring Legal’s operations effectively supporting enterprise goals and growth.
