About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. As Sr. Manager, Launch Quality, you will lead a team of talented quality professionals responsible for the quality assurance and control activities within Amazon Leo's satellite launch operations. You will work with Engineering, Mission Management and Payload Processing Operations teams to establish and operate quality system mechanisms that launch high-performance satellites at unprecedented scale. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. This role is a people manager and is the top quality leader within Amazon Leo's satellite launch operations. This role must identify and solve problems within complex production operations while coaching teams and developing mechanisms to consistently deliver high-quality products. You will be challenged with solving problems that have never been tackled before at scale. Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years working with commercial space and/or aerospace hardware
  • 7+ years working under AS9100 or ISO9001 compliance, or similar
  • 7+ years leading APQP and Root Cause Analysis for hardware failures across multiple disciplines (PCBA, assembly, avionics, machining, test)
  • 7+ years managing Quality/Manufacturing teams
  • GD&T, ASME Y14.5 and machined part inspection processes
  • IPC610 Class 3 compliant Electronics assembly and inspection processes

Responsibilities

  • Own quality management system processes for Amazon Leo's satellite launch operations
  • Lead a team of Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Technicians supporting concurrent missions across multiple launch partners
  • Weigh in on time-critical decisions impacting satellite quality as the most-senior quality leader within Launch
  • Drive defect identification and reduction activities including application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools
  • Foster a culture of quality, improvement and learning with Amazon Leo
