About The Position

About the Team: The Corporate Communications team sits within Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA), which seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders, including our colleagues. Corporate Communications is a nimble team in ESPA that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, including executive communications, public engagements, corporate reputation programs as well as communications supporting our lines of business. The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media, drive engagement with colleagues and develop external and internal digital communications for a global workforce of more than 225,000 colleagues. Within Citi, the team works with many internal partners, including senior leadership, and regularly coordinates closely with other members of ESPA globally. About the Role The Director, Head of Human Resources Communications, is a key member of Citi's Global Communications team within the ESPA organization. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Corporate Communications, the Director will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, strategic communications that proactively engage colleagues on key HR priorities and objectives, both within the HR organization and companywide, as well as externally through media, speaking engagements and digital/social channels. The Director will work to help set the communications strategy and develop and execute communications with compelling content and messaging that both aligns with broader company objectives and resonates with colleagues. In addition, the Director will lead a team of professionals and coordinate closely with Communications colleagues across Citi’s lines of business, functions and regions.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of communications and 15+ years of experience, including 8-10+ years' managerial experience
  • In-depth familiarity with both media relations and internal communications, preferably at a large, global organization
  • Experience pitching financial, business and industry publications
  • Ability to synthesize complex concepts to create key messages that are consistent but tailored to various stakeholders
  • Strong and prolific writing and editing skills
  • Skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects and activities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced corporate environment with sensitive information
  • Takes initiative, anticipates next steps and sets high standards in all he/she does
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience working with stakeholders cross-functionally and globally
  • Creative, thoughtful approach to work product and regularly brings forward new ideas
  • Experience managing third-party agency relationships
  • Persuasive when presenting to larger groups or in regular meetings, both internally and externally
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Oversee internal and external Human Resources communications
  • Develop and lead a communications strategy that enhances and protects Citi’s profile and reputation and reflects its strategic priorities
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key media outlets
  • Lead executive communications for Chief Human Resources Officer and support functional leaders and partners in driving consistent messaging that has the right tone and information and is clear, conversational and engaging
  • Develop creative communications tactics to break through and resonate with colleagues globally while also leveraging various communication channels
  • Manage and assist in the development and production of a variety of communications materials, including talking points, FAQs, media statements, executive memos, etc.
  • Design and deliver communications plans that effectively manage change and associated risks
  • Lead a team of professionals that support key areas of work
  • Develop talent and manage performance of team to achieve a standard of excellence
  • Work cross-functionally with many teams across Citi, including business lines and other functional areas
