Stord is headquartered in Atlanta with facilities across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Stord is backed by top-tier investors including Kleiner Perkins, Franklin Templeton, Founders Fund, Strike Capital, Baillie Gifford, and Salesforce Ventures. About this Role: Stord is a rapidly growing technology-enabled supply chain and fulfillment company with ~550 salaried and ~1,200 hourly employees across 14 buildings in the US and Canada. As we scale through organic growth and M&A, we need a seasoned HR executive to own the people strategy for our fulfillment operations — not just support it. The Head of Fulfillment HR will serve as the strategic people partner to our senior Ops leadership team (VPs and above), oversee the Director of People Operations and their team, and be a hands-on leader who knows what 'great' looks like in a high-volume, high-velocity fulfillment environment. This is not a role for someone who reports on problems. This is a role for someone who owns outcomes. WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS Stord's fulfillment operations are growing faster than our HR leadership capability has scaled. We have a strong HR team embedded in our sites — but we need a senior leader who can: Operate as a true peer and strategic partner to our VP-level Ops leaders Drive proactive labor management and retention strategies, not just report on metrics Build and scale a talent development capability across our frontline and management populations Set the standard for what fulfillment HR looks like at Stord — and close the gap between where we are and best-in-class Mentor and elevate the existing People Operations team

Requirements

  • Based in Atlanta, GA or willing to relocate; relocation assistance available. Given the concentration of fulfillment activity in the Atlanta market and the need for on-the-ground presence at our HQ and ATL sites, remote is not an option for this role. On-site presence 1-2 days a week in Atlanta with travel to other sites on a regular basis.
  • Proven experience managing HR for a workforce of 1,000+ hourly employees across multiple sites and 200+ salaried employees across the fulfillment network.
  • Demonstrated track record of reducing attrition and stabilizing a high-churn, high-volume workforce — with specific, quantifiable outcomes
  • Experience as a strategic HR partner to VP-level and Senior operations leaders
  • Strong command of labor management, workforce planning, and contingent labor strategy
  • Experience building or significantly redesigning talent development programs for hourly and management populations
  • Track record of developing and elevating HR teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-churn, low-wage urban markets — Atlanta experience is a meaningful differentiator
  • Background in e-commerce fulfillment, 3PL, or retail distribution at companies with 2,000+ hourly employees (Amazon, Target, XPO, GXO, Ryder, Geodis, NFI, etc.)
  • M&A integration experience, particularly for operations-heavy acquisitions
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, PE-backed or high-growth tech-enabled company environment
  • Expertise in Workday and data-driven HR analytics

Responsibilities

  • Strategic HR Business Partnership Serve as the primary HR partner to VP- and Senior Ops leaders across Fulfillment, Implementations, and Network Innovation — present weekly in business reviews (not just HR meetings), proactive on operational issues, and able to influence with authority. This means a seat at the table, not a seat outside the room
  • Translate business goals — including M&A activity and organic site expansion — into workforce strategies, org design recommendations, and people plans
  • Drive alignment between HR programs and operational outcomes: throughput, quality, cost, and employee engagement
  • Challenge ops leaders constructively and hold them accountable to people-related commitments
  • Labor Management & Retention Own the strategy for reducing attrition across all levels in fulfillment — associate, management, and senior leadership — with a particular focus on high-churn markets like Atlanta
  • Partner with Ops and Recruiting on labor demand planning to ensure sites are appropriately staffed, including contingent labor vendor management (e.g., Indeed Flex)
  • Set attendance and retention targets and build the programs and accountability structures to hit them
  • Use data to diagnose root causes of turnover and attrition and drive systemic fixes — not just tactical responses
  • Talent Development Design and deploy a talent development framework for frontline associates, supervisors, and operations managers — building capabilities that reduce management attrition and strengthen the bench
  • Partner with Training & Development on execution, ensuring programs are grounded in the operational realities of our sites
  • Identify and develop high-potential talent in the fulfillment org; create structured succession plans for key roles
  • Coach and develop senior operations leaders on people management, feedback, and performance
  • People Operations Oversight Lead and develop the Director of People Operations and their team of HR Managers, HRBPs, Generalists, and Coordinators across all fulfillment sites
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching, and ensure the team is operating as true HR partners — not order takers
  • Drive consistency in HR processes, investigations, compliance, and employee relations across sites
  • Ensure seamless onboarding, offboarding, and people operations execution as Stord opens new sites and integrates acquired companies
  • M&A & Growth Integration Partner with the People team on M&A due diligence and integration for operations-related acquisitions
  • Assess org design, culture, and talent gaps in acquired companies and build integration roadmaps
  • Support rapid scaling of people practices as new sites come online
