About The Position

The Enterprise Architect Leader is responsible for designing, maintaining, and evolving the bank’s enterprise architecture strategy to align technology investments with business goals and ensuring the enterprise-wide technology architecture to support digital banking transformation, regulatory compliance, and customer-centric innovation. This role ensures that IT systems and infrastructure align with the strategic goals of the bank, enabling secure, scalable, and efficient banking operations.

Requirements

  • Servant leader / team player adept in cross-organizational collaborations
  • An enterprise architect who is successful and fluid in working with application architects
  • Proven success in demonstration of applied execution
  • Depth of experience in digitizing Agile Architecture; e.g. adding agility to architecture
  • In related role minimum of 5-6 years
  • Proven success in working and leading on cutting to bleeding edge of Agile
  • Adept in their understanding of the practice of enterprise architecture
  • Successful in use of key technologies to digitize and “architecturalize”
  • Career track which includes a background in engineering / application development, working in architecture as a practitioner, management of a team and a formal enterprise architecture position
  • Rich experiences in industries such as banking or other regulated industries (e.g., pharmaceutical, healthcare) and/or “Big Four” consultancy experience
  • Full stack team / hands-on and leadership experience in Java, Node, C++, Python environments, database or middleware, UX
  • Ability to excel in performing and leading in an environment of high expectations
  • Clear and genuine passion, energy and enthusiasm for the work; readiness to enhance capabilities
  • Confidently collaborative without arrogance; ability to put others first, stay a step ahead and do the right thing
  • Cannot have thin skin
  • Background in building an enterprise architecture from scratch vs having inherited the work

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Architecture Leadership: Develop and maintain a comprehensive enterprise architecture strategy aligned with banking business objectives.
  • Modernize the architecture practices, methods and digitize the architectural processes within the organization.
  • Develop the framework for reference architectures, patterns and best practices to enable rapid solution delivery.
  • Technology Governance & Compliance: Ensure architectural compliance with financial regulations (e.g., FFIEC, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • Establish and enforce architecture standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with business units, risk management, and compliance teams to align technology with operational needs.
  • Facilitate architecture review boards and guide solution architects across banking domains (e.g., retail, commercial, payments).
  • Innovation & Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and implement emerging technologies such as AI/ML in fraud detection, blockchain for secure transactions, and cloud-native banking solutions.
  • Drive innovation in areas like open banking, API ecosystems, and real-time payments.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead a team of enterprise and solution architects, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  • Shape the Operations Digital priorities: in partnership with Operations leaders define the roadmap and program to drive digital maturity across products.
  • Data & experience-first leadership: Lead with data insights and a CX/EX mindset to reimagine client journeys, improve client experience, and drive DIY/DIT adoption.
  • Digital Servicing: Deliver on inflight initiatives and demonstrate measurable impact.
  • High Performance Team Leadership: Manage a team of talented product managers/owners driven to gain a deep understanding of merchants and partners to generate new ideas on solutions to drive growth.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, marketing, engineering, UX/UI design risk and customer support teams to deliver exceptional product experiences and accelerate product adoption.
  • KPI Monitoring: Define, analyze, and communicate key metrics and business trends to stakeholders. Ensure alignment of product enhancements with business goals.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Communication: Ensure alignment with internal and external stakeholders by regularly communicating product plans, benefits, and results. Effectively present to Senior executives on product strategy, update on progress and performance.
