JOB PURPOSE The Head of Category Management (CATMAN) and Sales Analytics at Unilever leads the development and implementation of category strategies, focusing on maximizing growth and building strong retailer partnerships. This role acts as a thought leader, collaborating closely with retailers to co-create business plans and optimize product placement and assortment based on shopper insights and market data. Key responsibilities include leveraging advanced analytics to understand consumer behavior, driving innovation through market trend identification, and ensuring robust sales analytics frameworks. The position is responsible for sales analytics, including long-range planning, performance management, and leading Quarterly Business Reviews to maintain accountability and strategic alignment within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred
  • 10-15+ years' experience in Category Management, Customer Management, Insights and Sales Strategy; CPG experience required
  • Deep understanding of optimal assortment, category growth stories and proven experience executing digitally and physically.
  • Extensive knowledge of data sources and how to apply them to win (Nielsen, Circana, Numerator, Household Panel, Loyalty Card)
  • Strong analytical interpretation, problem solving, strategic influencing and cross-functional leadership
  • Proven people management experience leading multi-layered teams, while coaching and developing for personal and business growth
  • Experience leading change and ability to tackle old and emerging issues with a fresh, new approach. Evaluates business situations and proposes well thought-out solutions.
  • Adept at analyzing and utilizing Consumer/Shopper Insights in Category Management sales stories and Category Management strategies
  • Market orientation - an outward focus toward the customer/consumer to maximize business results
  • Objective analytical power - makes accurate/objective assessments of problems

Responsibilities

  • Category Management - Customer Thought Leader
  • Retailer Collaboration : Foster strong partnerships with key retailers. Co-create category visions and joint business plans, leveraging shopper insights and market data to drive mutual growth.
  • Strategic Category Leadership: Build the future of the category through thought leadership by sharing market, consumer, and shopper insights to inform best practices with retailer partners
  • Desire at Shelf : Spearhead strategies for optimal shelf placement and visibility, utilizing planogram expertise to drive category and Unilever growth
  • Assortment Optimization : Lead the development of optimal product assortments, ensuring the right mix of SKUs is available across channels. Balance innovation with core product performance.
  • Consumer Insights & Analytics: Utilize advanced analytics to identify consumer behaviors, market opportunities, and competitive threats. Translate insights into actionable plans for assortment, shelving, and customer strategies.
  • Innovation & Trend Identification - Voice of Customer: Monitor market trends and gain insight into customer preferences to drive innovation and identify potential areas for category expansion.
  • Sales Analytics Lead Long Range Planning / Joint Value Creation : Partner with CATMAN to lead the customer category reviews & JVC assessments to bring insights-led actions to long-range planning.
  • Performance Management: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess business performance and areas of opportunity.
  • Reporting & Capabilities : Ensure robust and actionable reporting and analytics frameworks are in place to enable data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Business Reviews : Lead the execution of Quarterly Business Review (QBR) processes to ensure accountability, performance tracking, and strategic alignment.
