About The Position

Blue Man Group Orlando is looking for a full-time Head of Audio & MIT. The Head of Audio & MIT for Blue Man Group Orlando is responsible for ensuring consistent audio quality, aesthetic and technical reliability for BMG Orlando shows. They will also manage the archival files and aid in audio editing for future productions, current productions, marketing and corporate projects. The Head of Audio & MIT for assigned resident showmust be able to juggle multiple projects, priorities and personalities gracefully. As is customary with the theatrical industry and at Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group (CDSEG), the hours of work involved may vary and be irregular. Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
  • Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
  • Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
  • At least 5 years of previous experience or in a similar environment;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications;
  • Previous leadership experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Audio Production or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience;
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate viaheadset;
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.   • Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience on large-scale theatrical productions, touring productions, or special events is a plus;
  • Experience working with Ableton is required and QLab is a plus;

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Blue Man Group values and artistic vision are understood and supported across the organization;
  • Serve as Audio & MIT Head of Department for BMG Orlando;
  • Manage all administrative duties of the BMG Orlando Audio department including but not limited to scheduling, payroll approval, supply ordering and department meetings;
  • Maintain the department budget, and follow all management procedures for using purchase orders and submitting receipts;
  • Ensure show coverage through properly staffing department including training and running show tracks;
  • Support local PR and gig/special event needs by being point of contact for audio on all required projects;
  • Respond quickly to show-related issues, including but not limited to matters pertaining to overall aesthetic, technical issues or audio file requests;
  • Serve as technical info liaison between outside audio designers and Artistic Direction, assisting in communicating needs, requirements, etc.;
  • Provide in-ears, mics, speakers and all technical audio support for efficient rehearsals and techs;
  • Provide guidance to programmers as necessary;
  • Assist with BMG outside events/gigs, press, and marketing;
  • Attend rehearsals, and gigs for large-scale outside events/gigs as needed;
  • Manage and source audio packages through to install and execution as needed;
  • Be able to interface with gig client’s technical team ensuring a positive and collaborative experience;
  • Implement and adhere to Health & Safety rules and regulations;
  • Completes special projects and all other work-related duties as assigned.
