About The Position

Head Men’s Volleyball Coach Department: Division of Athletics Reports To: Director of Athletics Employment Status: Full-time, 12 – month Preferred Start Date: March 11, 2026 POSITION SUMMARY: Nichols College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Conference of New England (CNE), seeks a dynamic and student-centered professional to serve as Head Men’s Volleyball Coach. This full-time position is responsible for the administration, leadership, and development of a competitive intercollegiate men’s volleyball program that aligns with the mission of Nichols College and the philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics. The Head Coach is accountable for recruiting, retention, compliance, budget oversight, student-athlete development, and program culture. Program Leadership & Administration Provide strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for all aspects of the men’s volleyball program. Plan, organize, and supervise practices, competitions, and team travel. Develop competitive schedules in coordination with the Director of Athletics. Supervise assistant coaches and assigned support staff. Manage operating budget, purchasing, and equipment in accordance with institutional policies. Maintain accurate program records and required documentation. Recruiting & Enrollment Support Identify, recruit, and retain qualified student-athletes consistent with institutional enrollment goals. Collaborate with Admissions to support recruitment initiatives. Meet roster and recruiting benchmarks established by the Director of Athletics. Student-Athlete Success Promote academic achievement, retention, and timely progress toward graduation. Foster leadership development, sportsmanship, and holistic student growth. Monitor academic standing and collaborate with campus academic support services as needed. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with NCAA, Conference of New England, and institutional regulations. Maintain required certifications and training (e.g., Title IX, NCAA Bylaws, driving certification). Promote a culture of integrity, inclusion, and safety within the program. External Engagement & Fundraising Participate in fundraising initiatives and alumni engagement activities. Support community engagement efforts and departmental special events. Represent Nichols College positively within the conference and broader volleyball community. Departmental Collaboration Attend departmental meetings and conference meetings as required. Serve as an engaged and collaborative member of the Division of Athletics. Contribute to department-wide initiatives supporting student-athlete experience and institutional visibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy.
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners.
  • Organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, ARMS - recruiting platform)
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required.
  • Ability to perform light lifting and physical activity associated with coaching responsibilities.
