About The Position

Position Summary: Promote and coach men's basketball on the intercollegiate level by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Recruitment of quality student-athletes who understand and support the mission of Freed-Hardeman University. 2. Responsible for purchasing equipment and supplies that are needed to maintain a quality program. 3. Work within the budget for program. 4. Conduct basketball camps to promote the university and serve the community. 5. Serve as an ambassador for the university and the athletic department. 6. See that all FHU, MSC, and NAIA regulations are followed in all areas of program. 7. Monitor academic progress of student-athletes to make sure they are progressing toward graduation. 8. Plan and execute practices that are beneficial and challenging to student-athletes. 9. See that student-athletes are well-prepared for competition. 10. Work closely with the athletic training staff to see that injuries are prevented and treated in a manner that is beneficial to each student-athlete. 11. Display Christian character in all aspects of position. 12. See that all facilities, equipment, etc. are properly maintained. 13. Support the philosophy and mission of Freed-Hardeman University. 14. Work within guidelines as set out by the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Works well with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Skill in budget preparation and execution.
  • Skill in organization, prioritizing, and scheduling.
  • Ability to deadlines as set out by the university, conference, and NAIA.
  • Understands the place of athletics in a Christian university setting.
  • Willingness to travel extensively during recruiting period and playing season.
