About The Position

The Head Mechanic is responsible for maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-controlled environment for guests and team members. This role focuses on the mechanical integrity of bowling pinsetters, arcade equipment, and go-kart systems. While technical uptime is vital, the primary priority is enforcing safety standards, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring all operations comply with company policies and OSHA regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in bowling mechanics or industrial maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and risk prevention.
  • Ability to stand, crawl, and work in tight mechanical spaces for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds .
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with high noise levels.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Inspections: Perform daily checks of pinsetters, ball returns, and lane approaches for mechanical hazards.
  • Hazard Mitigation: Manage hazardous materials (oils, chemicals) according to SDS guidelines and fire codes.
  • OSHA Standards: Maintain 100% compliance with federal and local safety regulations.
  • Emergency Readiness: Maintain awareness of emergency procedures and address unsafe conditions or equipment failures immediately.
  • Technical Maintenance: Oversee the repair and preventative maintenance of all bowling and facility equipment.
  • Inventory Control: Manage parts and supply ordering to ensure equipment remains in safe, working order.
  • Facility Oversight: Monitor HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure a safe guest environment.
  • POS & Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance logs and safety inspection records.
  • Workshop Safety: Maintain a clean, organized machine area to prevent slips, trips, falls, and fire hazards.
  • Debris Removal: Ensure bowling pits and mechanical bays are free of clutter and oil accumulation.
  • Guest Areas: Assist in identifying hazards in concourse areas, including spills or damaged seating.
  • Mentorship: Train junior mechanics and pinchasers on safe machine intervention and tool handling.
  • SOP Adherence: Follow all written checklists and proactive safety enforcement protocols.
  • Accountability: Promote a culture where safety is never sacrificed for operational speed.
