About The Position

Fairview Park City Schools is seeking an experienced Mechanic to lead and manage our district's transportation maintenance program in a brand-new 10,000-square-foot repair center equipped with new shop equipment and tools. This position offers a unique opportunity for a skilled mechanic to establish and operate a modern shop with significant autonomy, supported by a professional transportation team and a well-maintained fleet. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance for a small, modern fleet of school buses and district vehicles, with the ability to organize the shop, implement maintenance systems, and run day-to-day operations independently. Requirements

  • Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) � Class B or higher with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • Ability to meet Ohio pupil transportation safety requirements including background checks and state inspection standards
  • Minimum five years of experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably with school buses, diesel vehicles, or medium/heavy-duty equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic components
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using modern diagnostic tools and repair manuals
  • Experience maintaining vehicle maintenance records, inspection documentation, and service schedules
  • Demonstrated organization, reliability, and ability to work independently in a fleet maintenance environment
  • Physical ability to perform mechanical work including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certification in school bus or heavy vehicle repair preferred

Responsibilities
