About The Position

The Head Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all school-owned vehicles and equipment. This includes buses, cars, trucks, vans, tractors, mowers, and other equipment. The Head Mechanic must be able to diagnose and repair problems quickly and efficiently, and must be able to keep accurate records of all work performed. The Head Mechanic must also be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Five years of experience as a mechanic.
• Ability to diagnose and repair problems on all types of vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to keep accurate records.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all school-owned vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair problems on all school-owned vehicles and equipment.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed.
• Order parts and supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
