About The Position

A leadership role responsible for supervising lifeguard staff while ensuring safety in and around the pool deck throughout the summer season (May-September). The Head Lifeguard serves as a role model to staff, assists in coordinating pool operations, and upholds the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and member service. This leadership position requires varied availability throughout the season, as well as availability to work on major holidays, including Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.

Requirements

  • Flexible scheduling availability, including mornings, evenings, and major holidays throughout the summer season.
  • All Head Lifeguards are responsible for fulfilling the duties outlined in the Lifeguard position description.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience at a comparable aquatic or pool facility.
  • Strong professional communication and organizational skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Ability to commit to assisting with all home swim meets.
  • American Red Cross or equivalent Lifeguard training or higher.
  • American Red Cross or equivalent CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
  • American Red Cross or equivalent AED/First Aid training.

Nice To Haves

  • Scheduling flexibility through August and early September is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Model and demonstrate safety-first practices by maintaining awareness of pool conditions and proper vigilance both on and off the stand.
  • Oversee and supervise lifeguard staff during operating hours, addressing safety concerns promptly and constructively while fostering positive team dynamics. Staff should feel motivated, supported, and accountable daily.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all emergency action plans and demonstrate the ability to respond effectively during emergency situations.
  • Create, implement, and monitor staffing rotations to ensure adequate lifeguard coverage throughout daily operations.
  • Perform basic water chemistry and equipment checks, as well as monitor and maintain levels as directed Aquatics Coordinator or Pool Manger.
  • Support Pool Manager in administrative duties as needed.
  • Ensure enforcement of all safety protocols, club policies, and procedures by both staff and Farmington Country Club members during daily pool operations.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate completion of daily operations logs and incident reports, as required.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of designated storage areas, office space, and the pool deck.
  • Represent Farmington Country Club in a professional capacity both in and out of the water by adhering to all club policies and procedures.
  • Attend and assist in required staff meetings, training sessions, and events.
  • Communicate and engage with members and guests in a professional, positive, and service-oriented manner, upholding FCC’s commitment to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
