About The Position

Windy Hill Athletic Club is seeking 2 Head Lifeguards to join their Seasonal Aquatics Team. Head Lifeguards are integral to upholding the safety expectations of the role, which includes explaining and enforcing rules, scanning for signs of struggle, performing rescues, and maintaining order in swimming areas. They also assist the Facilities team with cleanliness. Lifeguards are expected to be punctual and prepared for shifts with proper rest, hydration, nutrition, and sun protection. They will be provided with a personal Lifeguard Fanny Pack and uniform items. Head Lifeguards will specifically oversee daily swim tests for summer camp children, record results for the Aquatics Coordinator, and act as the Coordinator's eyes and ears to ensure team expectations are met when the Coordinator is not present, serving as a direct communication source for other Lifeguards. The role is seasonal, with lifeguard hours running from 10 AM through the evening, 7 days a week, with individual shifts typically ranging from 12-20 hours.

Requirements

Possess nationally recognized certifications in aquatics including: Lifeguarding, Pro CPR/AED, First Aid

Possess ability to provide multisensory instruction: auditory, visual, tactile, kinesthetic

Responsibilities

Explaining and Enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure safety of patrons in a Kind [friendly yet direct] Manner
While on stand, properly scanning in a preventative manner looking out for signs of struggle, stepping up before it gets dire
In the event of an emergency, rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning promptly and confidently
Maintaining order in swimming areas for all ages and abilities
Assisting our Facilities team with cleanliness of aquatics areas to promote an enjoyable experience
Show up to shift on time prepared with what you need to safely work through proper rest, hydration, nutritious meal, & any sun-protection items (hat, sunglasses, etc.)
Overseeing the daily swim test for summer camp kids
Recording how summer camp kids do on swim tests to report back to the Aquatics Coordinator
Upholding expectations for the team when the Aquatics Coordinator is not present at the pools
Being a direct communication source for Lifeguards
