About The Position

A licensed cannabis cultivation facility in Turner, Michigan is seeking an experienced Head Grower to oversee all aspects of cannabis cultivation operations. This leadership role is responsible for managing plant health, optimizing yields, maintaining compliance with Michigan cannabis regulations, and leading the cultivation team to produce high-quality cannabis products. The ideal candidate will bring strong horticulture knowledge, hands-on cannabis cultivation experience, and the ability to manage a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of professional cannabis cultivation experience , preferably in a commercial grow facility
  • Experience managing large-scale indoor or greenhouse cultivation operations
  • Strong knowledge of plant nutrition, irrigation systems, lighting, and environmental controls
  • Experience implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs
  • Familiarity with Michigan cannabis compliance regulations
  • Experience with seed-to-sale tracking systems (such as METRC)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work in a hands-on environment and lift up to 50 lbs when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, or related field
  • Experience managing high-volume cannabis production facilities
  • Knowledge of automation systems, fertigation systems, and environmental control software

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of cannabis cultivation including propagation, vegetative growth, flowering, harvesting, drying, and curing
  • Develop and implement cultivation strategies to maximize yield, potency, and plant health
  • Manage nutrient programs, irrigation systems, lighting schedules, and environmental controls
  • Monitor plants for pests, diseases, and deficiencies and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies
  • Track plant growth, performance metrics, and production data
  • Ensure all cultivation activities comply with Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) regulations
  • Maintain accurate records using state-required seed-to-sale tracking systems
  • Lead, train, and supervise the cultivation team
  • Coordinate with operations and processing teams to ensure efficient harvest scheduling
  • Oversee sanitation, facility organization, and cultivation SOPs
  • Evaluate new genetics, cultivation techniques, and technologies to improve production
