About The Position

PSI seeks a Head, Global Communication that will be responsible for shaping PSI’s global brand narrative and oversee the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that advance PSI’s mission and priorities. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Strategic Growth & Engagement and works in close collaboration with the fundraising and technical innovation teams to ensure that PSI’s voice reflects its commitment to innovation and locally led health solutions across all communications platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of related work experience in strategic communications, media relations, digital engagement, or related field. Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead brand storytelling and media engagement globally.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to tone, clarity, and strategy; ability to translate complex issues for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong management skills. Knowing when to coach, when to advise and when to provide specific direction.
  • Experience building and managing effective collaborative workflows across teams.
  • Extensive experience in digital strategy, content marketing, and social media engagement.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and crisis communications in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and working with senior leaders, partners, and media.
  • Demonstrated success aligning communications with fundraising, policy, and advocacy goals.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of content management systems and digital graphics production.
  • Familiarity with graphic design technologies and tools including but not limited to the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro).

  • Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Vice President for Strategic Growth and Engagement, design and lead a global communications strategy that supports PSI’s influence, funding, and partnership goals.
  • Coordinate messaging across global, regional, and country teams to ensure clarity, consistency, and impact.
  • Support executive leadership on brand and reputational issues, ensuring alignment with PSI’s mission and values.
  • Develop and lead multi-channel communications campaigns that support PSI’s fundraising objectives and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and technical teams to translate strategies into compelling narratives.
  • Lead efforts to disseminate credible, evidence-based knowledge that positions PSI as a thought leader in health system and health market innovation to improve health outcomes.
  • Ensure brand consistency and mission alignment across all external-facing materials.
  • Cultivate relationships with global, regional, and in-market media outlets to increase PSI’s visibility.
  • Oversee media engagement, press releases, op-eds, and speaking opportunities that elevate PSI’s thought leadership.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and media coach for senior leadership.
  • Develop rapid response plans and protocols for crisis communications.
  • Oversee PSI’s digital presence, including websites, social media, and digital campaigns.
  • Lead the creation of compelling, audience-tailored content that amplifies PSI’s voice and impact.
  • Leverage data and analytics to drive engagement, optimize reach, and inform decision-making.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing, lean communications team.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure strong internal coordination and collaboration across fundraising and technical teams to maintain coherence in messaging and execution.
