About The Position

Long Island University (LIU) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Head Coach for its NCAA Division I Women's Field Hockey program. This full-time position is based at LIU's Brookville campus and is responsible for the comprehensive management, development, and success of the field hockey program, both athletically and academically. The Head Coach will uphold the university's values of integrity, excellence, and student-centered development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of collegiate coaching experience, with a proven track record of program development and success.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead all aspects of team training, practices, and game strategies to foster competitive performance in the Northeast Conference.
  • Cultivate a team culture that emphasizes discipline, sportsmanship, inclusivity, and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and academic support staff to ensure holistic student-athlete development.
  • Identify, recruit, and retain high-caliber student-athletes who align with LIU's academic and athletic standards.
  • Develop and maintain a robust recruiting pipeline through scouting, campus visits, and communication with prospective student-athletes and their families.
  • Ensure strict adherence to NCAA, NEC, and LIU policies and procedures.
  • Manage program budgets, including travel, equipment, and recruiting expenses, with fiscal responsibility.
  • Coordinate scheduling of practices, games, and team travel logistics.
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Foster a professional environment that encourages continuous learning and development.
  • Promote the field hockey program through community outreach, alumni relations, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Organize clinics, camps, and events to enhance the program's visibility and engagement.
