Head Coach - Basketball
About The Position
POSITION PURPOSE: The Head Basketball Coach reports to the Executive Director of Student Services and Athletics and is responsible for complete supervision of the Basketball program at Navarro College. In addition, the Head Basketball Coach will have the responsibility for recruiting student-athletes and all aspects of the program. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coaching assignment includes head coaching responsibilities for intercollegiate basketball program and serving as transfer facilitator for student-athletes to four-year universities. Responsible for the operation and management of the basketball program in accordance with Navarro College District, Region XIV and NJCAA rules, regulations, and policies. Must be committed to meeting the educational goals of Navarro College’s students in an environment that promotes intellectual growth and develops human potential. Must demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism, integrity, and respect when interacting with students, peers, classified employees, administration and the public. Must observe proper and appropriate channels of communication, enforce the policies and regulations of the College and strive to support and improve College programs. Active involvement in student recruitment, academic success and retention is expected. Must be ethical, responsible, and adaptable. Must be willing to seek opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Must embrace the mission and objectives of Navarro College. Must have developed a passion to teach and coach others in helping student-athletes be successful in obtaining their academic and athletic goals. Must administer the departmental budget, including operating budget and scholarship budget. Other duties include, but not limited to: scheduling, recruiting, practice planning/organizing, public relations, departmental fundraising and camps. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of five years of collegiate coaching experience
- Knowledge of compliance with NJCAA rules and regulations and NCAA transfer guidelines
Nice To Haves
- Prior collegiate head coaching experience
- Prior junior college coaching experience
