About The Position

The Head Cashier position at Food City involves promoting and maintaining efficient and courteous service to customers at all times. The role includes supervising and monitoring front-end managers, computer room operators, cashiers, courtesy clerks, and Gas-n-Go staff. Responsibilities also include coordinating pickup lanes, maintaining security of the safe and change fund, overseeing cash pickups and deposits, and ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures. The Head Cashier will prepare weekly schedules for front-end associates, enforce front-end policies, and maintain supplies for the front end. Additionally, the position requires knowledge of state and local laws regarding alcohol and tobacco sales, as well as compliance with anti-money laundering policies. Other duties may be assigned by a manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• Previous management experience.
• Ability to conduct self in a professional manner.
• Maintain a strict level of confidentiality with company and associate's information.
• Ability to communicate effectively to associates of all levels.
• Effective at training associates with varying learning styles.
• Must be organized, dependable, and self-motivated.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Supervise and monitor front-end managers, computer room operators, cashiers, courtesy clerks, and Gas-n-Go.
• Coordinate pickup lanes and maintain security of safe and change fund.
• Oversee cash pickups and deposits and ensure they are properly handled.
• Monitor and promote Valucard policies.
• Prepare schedules for front-end associates on a weekly basis.
• Enforce all front-end policies and procedures including dress code and attendance.
• Maintain all supplies for front end, as well as candy and tobacco products.
• Monitor over/short and notify proper managers of issues.
• Know and enforce all state and local laws regarding sales.
• Follow and oversee proper procedures for selling various products and services.
• Understand how to submit a completed weekly sales report.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.
