Position Overview Superintendent – Project Manager is responsible for the overall success of HDD projects, including field supervision, crew leadership, production oversight, contract compliance, and project administration. This individual serves as the primary point of contact between field teams, company leadership, engineers, and clients.

  • Experience managing schedules, manpower, and project costs
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety and crew performance
  • Strong communication skills with both field personnel and clients
  • Willingness to travel and split time between field sites and office responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large-diameter, long-length, or high-risk HDD crossings
  • Utility, pipeline, or major infrastructure project experience
  • Familiarity with electronic steering systems and HDD reporting software

Responsibilities

  • Supervise multiple drill crews, fluid technicians, locators, and support personnel
  • Ensure proper tooling selection, drilling fluid management, and equipment utilization
  • Monitor downhole conditions and make real-time adjustments to maintain bore integrity
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for steering challenges, inadvertent returns (frac-outs), and tooling issues
  • Enforce company safety policies and project-specific environmental requirements
  • Plan and manage project schedules, manpower, and equipment needs
  • Review bore profiles, geotechnical reports, and construction drawings
  • Coordinate with owners, inspectors, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Track production, quantities, and daily reporting from the field
  • Support pre-construction planning for upcoming HDD work
  • Maintain project documentation including permits, submittals, and as-built records
